what can shiatsu help with?

There is a growing body of research that shows shiatsu can be effective in the treatment of many physical symptoms and it can have a significant impact on health awareness, wellbeing, general energy levels and lifestyle.

In my practice I have seen benefits for clients for a range of symptoms.

Relaxation is generally the first benefit to be mentioned. Bodywork has great potential for helping you switch from the ‘fight or flight’ mode associated with the sympathetic nervous system, to the more meditative state of the parasympathetic system in which your breath naturally deepens, muscles relax, improving circulation and the function of the body system as a whole.

Many clients tell me that shiatsu has supported them in creating a lifestyle that is more in line with how they want to live. This may include creating space to make decisions, changes in diet or simply feeling more able to handle the stresses of everyday life and work.

Some clients come with specific issues they wish to address, others to support and maintain their health.

Shiatsu has a diagnostic element. Therefore each treatment is different and informed by your aims and a detailed history of your health.

Shiatsu is currently available in the private and public sectors.

Research is available on request.
